Pre-orders and delivery

What happens after I pre-order?
You get a confirmation email right away. If you already ran a free analysis for the property, that report unlocks immediately. When your county releases 2027 values (expected mid-April 2027), we pull your new value and nearby comparable homes, build your 2027 Protest Kit and email it to you automatically, well before the May 17, 2027 deadline. There is nothing else you need to do until then.
When will my 2027 kit arrive?
Each appraisal district sets its own release date. Values usually come out mid-April 2027. We check for new values every day and deliver your kit the day your county's values are available. If a property needs a closer look, we finish it by hand and email you.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Yes. Full refund any time before your report is delivered, or if we can't build a report for your property. Email support@hometaxreview.com and we'll take care of it.
Do I need an account?
No. Your report lives at a private link we email to you. There are no passwords and no subscriptions.

The free analysis

What does the free analysis show?
Whether your home looks over-assessed compared with similar nearby homes, an estimate of what a successful protest could save you, and the comparable homes we found. It is free, with no credit card.
Where does the data come from?
From the public records of the Travis, Williamson and Hays county appraisal districts: the same appraised values, property details and sales information the districts publish. We do not use estimates from listing sites. How our analysis works
Which counties do you cover?
Travis County (TCAD), Williamson County (WCAD) and Hays County (Hays CAD) in the Austin area.
Is Home Tax Review an appraisal or legal advice?
No. Our reports are informational. They organize public data into the kind of evidence homeowners present at a protest, but they are not an appraisal, and we are not attorneys or licensed appraisers.

Protesting your value

What is the deadline to protest?
For the 2027 tax year the protest deadline is May 17, 2027 (May 15 falls on a weekend in 2027, so it moves to the next business day), or 30 days after your notice of appraised value was delivered, whichever is later. Counties usually mail notices and post values in April.
Does it cost anything to protest?
Your protest asks the appraisal review board to set your value at what your evidence supports, which is why the kit gives you comparable-home evidence for the value you request. Filing is free, and you can withdraw a protest before your hearing if you change your mind.
Do you file the protest for me?
No. You file it yourself, usually in a few minutes on your appraisal district's website. The kit includes step-by-step filing instructions for your county, a pre-written protest email and a hearing script.
Do I have to go in person?
Often not. Many protests are settled at an informal review before any formal hearing, and each appraisal district offers its own options, such as online, phone or video meetings, or an in-person hearing. Your kit's filing guide explains your county's process.
Can I really do this myself?
Yes. The process is designed for homeowners. The Protest Kit gives you comparable-home evidence, an adjustment grid in the format review panels are used to, a hearing script and a filing guide for your county.

Pricing

How much does it cost?
The analysis is free. The Protest Kit is a one-time $59 for one property and one tax year, with no subscription and no percentage of your savings. Full refund any time before your report is delivered, or if we can't build a report for your property.
How is this different from a protest company?
Protest companies usually file and attend the hearing for you and charge a percentage of the tax you save, often every year. With Home Tax Review you pay one flat price, do the filing yourself with our evidence and scripts, and keep all of your savings.
I am a real estate agent. Can I offer this to my clients?
Yes. Agents can offer a version of the analysis branded with their own name and logo. See plans for agents
